What is CORA

CORA is online accounting software for businesses in the Dutch Caribbean, for companies registered in the United States and soon for companies in the Netherlands. Everything below is part of the product — there is no bigger package to upgrade to.

Your bank, without the typing

Connect your bank where that is possible, or upload the statement your own bank gives you. The island banks are read too — the ones other packages leave you to type over by hand. Every statement is checked against its own opening and closing balance, so you know a month is complete before you start working on it.

Invoices and quotes that look like you

Build your invoice layout once — logo, colours, letterhead, footer, payment details — and every invoice and quote follows it. Send a quote your customer signs online with their name and the moment recorded, then turn it into an invoice with one click. Unpaid invoices get reminders on their own.

Purchases, receipts and everything you get by email

Upload a stack at once, drag a photo of a receipt in from your phone, or give suppliers your own CORA email address so their invoices arrive by themselves. CORA reads the supplier, the date, the amount, the currency and the tax, and puts it in your inbox to approve.

Sales tax and the deadlines that come with it

Your sales tax position is kept up to date all month. CORA knows the rules and the filing dates of your own country — OB on Curaçao, BBO on Aruba, ABB on the BES islands, turnover tax on Sint Maarten, TGCA on Saint-Martin, sales tax per US state and soon Dutch VAT — and shows what is due and when. In the Netherlands and on Saint-Martin CORA files it; elsewhere you or your accountant submit the return CORA prepared.

Reports, year-end and your accountant

Profit and loss, balance sheet, trial balance, general ledger, sales tax summary and a complete audit trail of every change, exportable to PDF or Excel. Give your accountant their own login, read-only if you want, instead of emailing files back and forth.

The parts most packages leave to you

Loans and mortgages with their repayment split, money you lent your own company, dividend to your holding, depreciation on equipment and vehicles, projects with their own result, and more than one currency valued at what actually left your account. CORA sets up the right accounts and explains what to book where.

Your webshop and your till, without typing anything over

Connect Shopify, WooCommerce, Square or Lightspeed once and CORA takes it from there. Every order becomes a sales invoice with the tax your shop applied and the customer added to your contacts; a refund lowers what is paid without making the sale disappear. Most packages stop there and book the payout as revenue — which is wrong, because a payout is sales minus refunds minus fees. CORA splits it into all three, so your costs are in the books and your bank line matches to the cent. If it does not add up exactly, nothing is booked and you are told why. A till works the same way as a webshop: Square counter sales arrive as invoices too.
